It might seem counterintuitive, but Bankrate.com is telling folks to go out and buy big, gas guzzling SUVs — at least the used ones. The reason for this is that with consumers dropping their big SUVs for gas-sipping cars and employee pricing discounts urging everybody and their brother to go buy a new car, late-model SUVs are flooding the market, and nobody wants them. With the law of supply and demand such that it is, Bankrate.com argues that you'll save a large enough amount of money in purchasing the car that $50 fill-ups aren't a big deal. At least until gas prices go back up. We're not so sure that's a risk we'd be willing to take unless we were already shopping for one of these big guys.
Thanks to Ryan for the tip.
