Sebastien Loeb wins the Race of Champions

World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb (above) put the perfect exclamation point on his 2005 season Saturday, winning the 2005 Race of Champions at the Stade de France in front of more than 50,000 fans.

Loeb won the Super-Final shootout with sportscar ace Tom Kristensen on a damp track, a few hours after Kristensen had won the ROC-Nations Cup for Scandinavia with team-mate Mattias Ekstrom.

Loeb won the Nations Cup with F1 star Jean Alesi last year, and the 2003 ROC, but this win, coming on the heels of his dominating season in the WRC, capped an extraordinary year for the young Frenchman. After his win, Loeb said  "...winning the Champion of Champions crown here at the Stade de France tonight in front of such a huge home crowd is really something special. I could hear them cheering me on from inside the car! I couldn't be happier."

Team USA's Jeff Gordon made it to the semi-finals, where he lost to Kristensen.
