FBI settles SUV arson case

Remember a couple years back when some folks went on an eco-vandalism binge and torched about 125 vehicles (mostly Hummers) at dealerships and homes in San Gabriel Valley, California? The arson caused an estimated $2.3 million in damages and of the people involved only one was convicted and is serving eight years in prison.

As it turns out, Josh Connole, 27, was brought up on charges in connection with the arson and spent four days in jail. The problem was, he didn't do it. The FBI has agreed to pay Connole $100,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by Connole following his 2003 arrest. The city also ponied up $20,000 to settle a separate claim.
