The German newspaper Die Welt is reporting that Volkswagen and DaimlerChrysler are looking to become close collaborators in the near future. It was revealed by Volkswagen's chairman Bernd Pischetsrieder in "Auto Motor Sport" that the two companies have been talking since 2001. Potential projects include a DCX-based VW minivan, as well as possible Dodge-branded VW Polos. It was made clear, however, that Audi would not be involved in these collaborations due to competitive reasons. [via German Car Blog]
