GM taunts Toyota over recalls

In what could be described either as a rebirth of attitude at the world's largest automaker or an incredible display of hubris, GM is saying that Toyota is suffering from quality problems. John Smith, GM's VP of global product planning, points towards Toyota's recent spate of recalls as evidence of this. Keep in mind that GM has already recalled about three times as many vehicles so far this year. He also points to "objective data", but I'm not sure what he refers to; while GM is performing far better in quality surveys nowadays, Toyota generally doesn't seem to have lost any ground. Regardless, this ought to keep fans of both brands talking for quite some while.
