Auto racing this weekend

NASCAR rings the bell for Round 2 of the Chase for the Cup at Dover's "Monster Mile." After last week's brawl, NASCAR has moved to clean up its act - we'll see if threats of disciplinary action have had any effect on the drivers.
The Brazilian Grand Prix begins the 3-race "fly-away" series that finishes the Formula 1 season. Spain's Fernando Alonso can become the youngest champion in F1 history this weekend. Rain is in the forecast.

Across the Atlantic, the inaugural A1GP season kicks off at Brands Hatch, with 25  national teams contesting "The World Cup of Motorsport."

In the U.S., Grand Am prototypes and sports cars join the Indy Racing League at historic Watkins Glen. This will be the first major open wheel series race at The Glen since 1981. Dan Wheldon will be crowned IRL series champion at this weekend's event. Meanwhile, the Champ Car World Series takes on its second oval track race of the year at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, pairing up with NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series.

And if you're looking for something more down to earth, with everyday people road racing for the fun of it, the Sports Car Club of America's National Amateur Championship, aka "The Runoffs," wraps up this weekend at Mid-Ohio, with 23 races (!) over three days. Car and Driver magazine calls the Runoffs one of the Top Ten motorsports events.
