VW fires ad agency and hires MINI's firm

Volkswagen ads are quirky and entertaining in a subtle way, like this one. VW, however, doesn't think Arnold Worldwide, its current ad agency, is getting the job done and has decided to replace the firm with Crispin Porter, the agency responsible for the MINI brand's creative advertising approach. Crispin Porter has subsequently fired the MINI brand (can an ad agency fire its client?) in order, presumably, to devote more of its resources to its larger and wealthier client.
I've always enjoyed VW ads, so it will be interesting to see what Crispin Porter does with the brand's image. Regardless of new ads, VW needs to begin building more reliable vehicles to back up any image enhancement this switch may occasion.
