Big Bear Lake Antique Car Club Fun Run

To a car guy, a summer afternoon doesn't get much better than being able to stroll through hundreds of hot rods and cool antiques, enjoy a hot dog and a cold soda, and listen in on the stories behind these one-of-a-kind cool rides.  I was able to do just that this weekend thanks to the organizers of the Big Bear Lake Antique Car Club Fun Run.  Unlike most hot rod shows that take place at your local fair grounds, this one is set on the streets of the Big Bear Village, near the shores of the Big Bear Lake, 7000 ft above ground level in the San Bernardino Mountains in SoCal.

In addition to the usual suspects like the Cobras, Woodies, T-birds and Corvairs, the show also featured a 1972 Dino Ferrari and a 1939 Rolls Royce Wraith (originally a British Embassy Limo).  And the best part of the afternoon came at around 3:45pm when some 300 show cars rallied around the lake as spectators cheered on. Now, THAT is what I call a fun Saturday afternoon…did I mention the 20 miles of non-stop twists and turns on the way up to the lake?
