Bentley planning to dip into 'mainstream'

We saw this report and it caught our interest. While it is from the Bangkok Post, the article seems to be a reprint of an Autocar article. Regardless, there is a source within the VW Group that is aware that Bentley product planners are looking to build an executive sedan to slide in below the Continental line. We find this interesting, as Jaguar looks to head higher up market, VW plans on pulling the Bentley line slightly down market. Regardless, the interesting tidbit mentioned is VW/Porsche may be co-developing the platform that will be the basis of the Panamera and this new Bentley. This is actually counter to what Porsche had previously announced. Interesting to consider, but we will have to get confirmation before we totally believe it.
