Spend money, save gas

Kelley Blue Book makes a good point: saving gas costs money. While we all know that hybrids are more expensive than their gas-only equivalent— necessitating years of high mileage driving to recoup the premium — Kelley points out that the Honda Odyssey offers the same trade-off. The minivan's optional i-VTEC V6 offers no more torque or horsepower than the standard powerplant, but its cylinder deactivation system delivers about 10% better mileage. At $2 a gallon, minivanistas would need to burn more than a thousand gallons to claw back the $2300 cost. Happy motoring!
