Hummer will attempt to regain off-roading cred with Alpha series

Concurrent with next year's release of the MY2006 H3, Hummer will release its Alpha performance series of non-pavement-loving vehicles. The Alphas will be toughened-up versions of preexisting models, starting off with the big daddy, the Hummer H1 Alpha. A 6.6 liter Duramax turbodiesel will replace the current H1's less powerful, less fuel efficient, and less ozone-friendly powerplant. Get it? It's called Alpha, like an Alpha male. It will beat you up for no particular reason.
