Roswell 2K Car Show for New Beetles: pods touch down in New Mexico

So we all know why Roswell is famous, but what do New Beetles have to to with it? Well, an early ad campaign from VW claimed the bug was "reverse-engineered from UFOs." And then owners started calling their cars "pods." A car show to highlight this trend was conceived in 2000 (hence the 2K in the title, even though this year's show should be 2K4), and the natural place to hold it was Roswell. Although technically a competition, there are 220 trophies distributed so that everybody goes home a winner. With the mods on the above NB including AN ALIEN WAITRESS ON ROLLER SKATES, one wonders if perhaps the government should try to cover this one up as well.
