Exclusive Zeus gets down with Honda's new Insight

Japanese tuner Exclusive Zeus has done a job on the Honda Insight, so that now you can be green and still be a badass. Part of the company's GLMRS Line, the kit consists of front and rear spoilers, grille, and side skirts fabricated in aluminum – but you'll have to take care of the wheels and lowering on your own time. You can buy the pieces individually or get the whole bunch for ¥134,400 ($1,418 U.S.) unpainted, or ¥207,900 ($2,194 U.S.) painted to match your car. We're not sure about those wheels, but Zeusified Insight definitely has a certain "angry vacuum cleaner" quality going for it.

Angry vacuum cleaner is right. It sucks.
And the smug that would normally be emitted around this hybrid/whatever is simply gone.

Yes because hybrids are so "badass." I love seeing the lowered and riced out hybrid camrys roll around here in LA it makes me laugh.

what with the term riced out? Just cause the car's an Asian make? So if someone jacks up a 4x4 and slaps on some big as$ wheels does it mean that its rednecked up?
JDM Life 10:06PM (8/03/2009)
When since lowered was rice....that was a dumb comment.
I Lowered and add rims and tire to my car....thats the basic. No where near rice.
Rice is huge rims, huge rim, huge and nosy exhaust pipe, stupid bright colors, neons, stickers for power etc.
I doubt any of those camrys had any of that so those camrys are not rice but quite nice.
I agree with anonymous j LMAO !!!

Adding a body kit and wheels to a car that has no performance potential for the sake of appearance is considered "riced out." The idea of a hybrid is to save money by being more fuel efficient correct? So spending money on wheels, body kit, lowering, not only decreases your fuel economy but also why did you spend the money when that is the very reason you purchased a hybrid in the first place? Your comment JDM was a dumb comment GTH

@ Switch,
Meh. The whole term quite frankly is a bit childish. People's differing personal tastes aside, the phrase "riced out" is derogatory, referring to the trends set by the Japanese car guys and gals. Frankly some of the stuff they do is just...bizarre.
But even despite that, many OEMs offer spoilers on vehicles and "sport packages" that add no "performance" value to the vehicle. That doesn't mean it doesn't add "aesthetic" value (again, each person's tastes are different).
My point is, seriously...we really need to stop using the phrase "riced out". It was played out even before it really got started.

@ Switch,
Not every "car guy" is only interested in performance. There is a huge market of "car enthusiests" that are more into cosmetic upgrades...but that usually leads them to performance modifications down the road.
I personally would preffer a "sleeper" over a looker.

Wheels have nothing to do with rice, because wheels don't make your car go faster. It's the noise muffler, the huge wing that are most common. This happens to be accompanied by wheels, wild paint, neon and ground kits, but by no means do wheels or a ground kit qualify as rice.
It's taking an a Civic and making it sound like you have a V8 under the hood and clothes line sized spoiler on the trunk and yet it still takes your car 12 secs to hit 60.

Yes, it does.
willyolio 3:09PM (8/04/2009)
no, not "rednecked" up. you have to follow the pattern.
asian cars get "riced" up
american cars get "wheatied" up.

@Red
I've always thought the term was derogatory also and never understood really why people thought it was okay to begin with. I also wonder why the Italians and the Germans never got dumbsht terms like that as if tuners of their makes have never made horrible looking aftermarket kits.

Most of that kit looks ridiculous, but I like the blacked-out front. Pretty sleek.

Meh... it's better looking than stock, but the Insight was never a looker to begin with.

Although the Insight is basically a POS, the kit improves its appearance. Kinda like a Jolie mask on Rosie Odonnell.
