VIDEO: Ford F-150 SVT Raptor explained by Mike Levine

When it comes to all things pickup trucks, Mike Levine from PickupTrucks.com is the man, bar none. He's got the first video report on the new Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and goes into far greater detail about the truck's special bits than we ever could. The Raptor, of course, is the latest product from the SVT crew and it's fully off-road ready. This beast is unlike the previous F-150 SVT Lightning, which blended lots of horsepower with a strictly on-road suspension set up. SVT seems to have realized that a pickup truck will never be a sports car and vice versa, so they set up the Raptor with new heavy duty suspension mounts, unique suspension arms and new Fox racing remote reservoir dampers. The SVT Raptor will be launched with the current 5.4L V8 underhood, although the 6.2L "Boss" V8 should be available as an option by the end of '09. The interior is fitted with all kinds of special bits and from the outside the Raptor will be instantly recognizable thanks to a unique grille and flared out fenders. Check out the video for yourself after the jump and our high-res galleries of the SVT Raptor below. Thanks to Sam (not me) for the tip!

I mean this in the nicest way, he needs to eat something. He is skinny.
Oh yeah the truck. I'll take mine in black, without the splash stuff on the back.

It may come as a shock to you, but he is what a normal person is supposed to weight. He might be considered to be "skinny" in the US but that's actually normal.

Ummm not everyone is 300lbs like me? What?

Is it possible to start posts with something relevant to the post?

I like the grill.

The grill is spectacular!
If Ford can't find a way to sell this as an accessory, they're missing a huge opportunity.

I want one in black. That mofo is mean.

I generally like the Blue Oval logo on the grill, but for some reason I really like that this one doesn't have it, I don't know why. It just looks different and good to me..

yes, that is the best feature of the truck. Everything else sucks and looks contrived. The SVT letters in the side porthole vents....cheap.
I'd like to see that grill on a new ranger. In fact, if this truck was in a ranger sized format I'd be really impressed. You don't need a full size truck to go off roading, Suzuki proved that.

That grill rocks.

Probably pricey to replace too. One smack by a deer/cougar/pheasant and BLAM!! No more grill.

I hope you're not serious as what you describe is quite common on all cars. Yes, believe it or not they all have grills that, for the most part, change yearly.

Wow that big FORD is as bad as them big GM bowties

At least GM bothers to highlight it with some gold spraypaint.

Love the truck. Looks great, and has the specs to back it up.
Also, anybody notice the skid pan in photo 5? Good to see them beating up on it.

I heard, that if you lock the differential, it voids the warranty.

I posted this in another site/blog, and I wanted to post it here, too:
Nice, and does make a statement - I'm glad that Ford didn't sell out and is moving forward with an expressive edition of it's already outstanding, new-generation F150!
One thing: a quote in the report, "A new 6.2L V8 engine will be available after launch" - that seems to contradict past reports that the "Boss" (nee Hurricane) 6.2L was put on hold and/or a smaller-displacement edition may move forward (perhaps the 5.0L to eventually find it's way into the Mustang, reports have stated), what is the situation, is the Boss 6.2L and it' s possible smaller-sized counterparts still on, or on hold?
I hope the project is moving forward.

The blue oval on the front of my truck would have suited me just fine. This grill falls into the category more show - no go.

The grill may be for show, but that truck sure as hell can go.
Did you notice at 1:09 the truck was only going 100mph? Not too much go I guess.
