SEMA 2008: Corvette C6R replica returns with 2008 livery

Click above for high-res gallery of the Corvette C6R replica
At SEMA last year we spotted a very real looking Corvette C6R replica whose owner had made lots of effort to duplicate the race car down to the last sticker. Since that time he has updated the car to reflect the 2008 paint scheme along with the new black wheels. The Corvette now looks even more like the real thing, and we didn't realize it was a street car until we saw the interior. We can't imagine how cool it would be to drive this thing on the street, and we applaud the owner for how much effort must have gone into sourcing the parts and building the car correctly, let alone having the guts to build it in the first place. You can view all the details of this very exact C6R replica in the high-res gallery below.

I definitely liked the 07 paint scheme better....

07 paint scheme? An all yellow C6R can't be called a paint scheme... more like MONOCHROMATIC!!!
I do agree the 08 scheme is too cheesy & the Compuware corporate logo was also updated (badly).

"We can't imagine how cool it would be to drive this thing on the street"
Or you look like a total dork.

Agreed. If there are no performance modifications, it is essentially a riced out Corvette.
Still kind of cool, I guess.

I d rather put that money under the hood, but I guess some people are more into appearances.

I dunno - I think that with it already being a real Z06, there's quite a bit under the hood, already.
Personally, I like that my C6Z is a little more low-profile, but I can see where ALMS fans would like something like this.

this guy is a fellow member on the corvette forum. it most definitely is not all show. He has just as impressive an array of performance mods too.

Looks nice. Does anyone know what exhaust that car is using?

OK so the "paint it like the race car" thing is a little cheesey, but for what it is it's extremely well executed. Also, if you get rid of the graphics, side markers, and ri-DIC-ulous spoiler, the body kit and rims look pretty sweet.
P.S. You could paint Barney the purple dinosaur on it and it wouldn't look as dorky as those jacked up trucks in picture #7.

Then you have a bone STOCK Z06... the owner wanted to capture the look of the ALMS spec C6R.
Go to a motorsports site & look at photos of the C6R. A street car could not run on the street with ALMS GT1 aero & ride height. The guy modified the front spliter. There is also no SPOILER on this car... its a copy of the C6R's rear WING.
If you want to pi$$ on the theme, you have every right... just know what you are criticizing. I know you said it was "well executed" but then you dismissed 3/4ers of the mods... a bit of a backhanded compliment IMO.

OK then. It's dorky. As it would be if someone made a Michael Waltrip Toyota Camry or a John Force Mustang.
I will not pi$$ or $hit or even $lobber on any theme. I didn't think "well executed" was in$ulting. Especially for something as dorky as this wa$te of time and $.

Is that a private owner or one of the GM Works marketing cars? There IS a car or two that runs, is outfitted JUST like the race cars, but is used for marketing appearances.

All that effort, but he forgets the louvers in the front fender? Not to mention, when did Vortech become a sponsor?
Good effort, but he missed a few details.

Love it. After all of that I'm sure putting a Katech 427 in it wouldn't be that hard, if he hasn't already.

Hi All! I am the owner of the listed car and im going to try and clear some things up...
The car was built to look like a Corvette C6R. If you dont know what that is, look it up. The original concept was of the 2007 scheme which I brought out to the 07 SEMA Show. I decided to update to the 2008 scheme since its much better in my own opinion. I also switched to the #3 car since I like Ron and Johnny better.
A ton of exterior mods were done. All are nearly identical to the real C6R.
All the graphics are authentic and were provided by the race team. The only graphic not original is the Vortech logo. This is because they sponsored me into the show and nearly gave me the blower. The sticker was the least I could do for them saving me thousands and quelling the masses who like to whine the "all show no go" jabber :)
