VIDEO: Cadillac CTS-V being manhandled around Milford

The message was somewhat short and therefore cryptic: "This is video we shot of the CTS-V driving some hot laps at the GM Proving Grounds in Milford, MI." Our curiosity sufficiently piqued, we clicked the link and watched the vid. What we saw was the new 2009 Cadillac CTS-V being manhandled around Milford. With a running commentary by the driver, the new mid-size supersedan can be seen blasting around Milford at quite alarming speeds. The deep bellow of its 556-hp supercharged 6.2L LS9-derived LSA V8 is amazing. The video is perhaps not as inspiring as the 7:59.32 run around the Nordschleife, but is still quite the spectacle. Actually, it might not even be as exciting as our own video of a recent ride in one at Milford, but it's always fun to see the CTS-V move in a way that belies its bulk and reminds us that American automakers really can build world-class cars. Check out the full 3-minute YouTube video after the jump.

Maybe I'm just too biased but I'm not even tempted in the slightest...

Ugh, those Michigan accents. No matter, that CTS-V goes like spit. Just hope the curb weight ain't too much...

Anything in this class weighs about the same as a small cruise ship.

I beleive that's John Heinricy doing the driving. I had the opportunity to ride with him on the Horsethief track at Willow Springs...more fun than a roller coaster...always in control even when you think you are about to die!

Maybe I am strange...
But a CTS V6 with a 6-speed, and a turbocharger or two.
A nice high feature V6 with direct injection could go a long way with forced induction, and still have nice torque and fuel economy characteristics while off boost.
Throw real AWD into the mix, and all of the sudden that is looking very, very interesting.
Maybe I am even stranger, that I don't need 550 horsepower. Not even in a 4000lb RWD sport sedan.

I really thought at most they would stuff in the Z06 engine, but expected the base Vette motor.
This thing is nuts. The M5 still wins in the lust factor (come on, 4 doors 10 cylinders). The sensible side of me would want to save $20k and get this instead. Not that I can afford either, or their lesser brethren. Go Caddy!

I wonder who this baby will turn out to be in Transformers, hmm...
Have to say this is one of the few cars that make me WANT a sedan.

The normal CTS looks better, but I'd rather have an M5 than this. And before you say anything, yeah, I'm biased.

I have a distinct bias against american cars but I want a cts-v really bad.
