Jeremy Clarkson more popular than Angelina Jolie in UK
At least when it comes to long drives in the park, according to research commissioned by BP Ultimate and presented to us via Auto Express. The research tells us that 25% of UK men would like Top Gear pundit Jeremy Clarkson to be their shotgun man, which is a lot more than the mere 17 percent of the vote Angelina Jolie garnered. George Clooney was voted number one among the lady folk and the research also revealed that 33 percent of both men and women would rather drive alone than with anyone, even Jeremy Clarkson.

Good for JC. I have been watching Top Gear quite a bit lately, but other than coming off as a grumpy guy who doesn't 'get' US cars, he actually is objective and knows what he's talking about: US car=cheap power, which he likes. Nissan=Glorifed Renault. He calls Audi TT drivers "T*tties". Hondas are for old folks, except S2000. Lambo Gallardo is a boring exotic. The new BMW 3-series is SOOO boring they won't review it. HAAHAHA..Too funny.
I've thought he was spot on ever since he wore a shirt on Top Gear that said "C*cks Buy Porsches"...Hahah...I mean, what's more true than that?

The new format TG is one of the most entertaining programmes on tv, let alone car shows. Jezza is a superb motoring journalist but doesnt quite have the ...erm...talents Ms. Jolie does.

As much as I like and respect JC, I think Angelina would be a much better passenger. I mean, he'd be interesting and all, but I'd rather talk to him on the set of Top Gear as he tells me that I'm the new fourth presenter. I'd rather have Angie in the car, because she's good to look at and wouldn't tell me that my shifts were "sloppy"...

I'm gay and even I would want Angelina sitting next to me in the car. Unless it was a car I was dying to drive, then Clarkson would be fine, because all my attention would be on the car and not wondering if I cold possibly be bi as I'm driving and staring at Ms. Jolie.

Top Gear is a great show. Jeremy has the balls to say what he thinks and can usually back it up. The fact that America can't produce such a show (or technical magazines like Racecar Engineering and RaceTech) are ongoing evidence of the dumbing down of our culture. Some car fans want more than sheet metal and marketing blather.

I definitely think the conversation with Clarkson would be a hell of a lot more interesting. If I wanted eye candy, I could go out to just about any mall and get my fill. Although I guess when you've grown up in L.A., seeing celebrities doesn't really have that "ooooh" factor since it happens fairly regularly.
Vicki from 5th gear is an interesting choice...a bit of both worlds, but I still think Clarkson would be cooler to hang out with.

Clarkson is a MAN. That being said, he is a little harsh on American cars sometimes even when they are good cars. But reading american car magazines and watching SPEED (every blue moon they have an interesting show on), I was so unused to subpar cars actually be criticized... are american car magazines too scared to really bash a car if it deserves it?
I realize all cars that go into production cant be absolutely terrible (well other than the yugo lol) but in this day and age. Still, it is more than just entertaining to hear clarkson rag on something bad.
Also, Clarkson got rid of his Ford GT because he was having so many problems with it... that sure wont help his attitude towards american cars!

He bought it back (which had one problem, an aftermarket alarm) and drove it to France. That was a good show too.

I buy Car magazine because I want to read up on cars we can't get here. Same for watching Top Gear. The British shows are honest if they don't like a car, while bonehead American shows like MotorWeek like every car made by every automaker. Ridiculous.

If someone could produce a show on autos as good as Top Gear for the North American market I would definitely be watching.
I believe anything remotely as blunt and honest as Top Gear would be sued into bankruptcy in the litigious society we seem to live in here!!!
