The final production car won't look much different.
After years of teasers, spy shots and faint whispers, the fifth-generation Toyota Supra finally makes its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The Toyota GR Supra Concept might be a focused, track-prepped race car, but Toyota is making no secret that this heralds the return of the production car to showrooms. The final production model may still be a ways off, but the GR Supra Concept will be available in "Gran Turismo Sport" starting in April.

- So after years of concepts and teasers, the Toyota Supra has finally made its return. The car disappeared from the US in 1998 and from the rest of the world in 2002. Now what you see here is just concept. But this is as close to a production version as you're likely to see before the full review.

Outside of the appearance, we really don't have that many details. We don't know what's going to be under the hood. We don't know what transmission it's going to use. What we do know is that Toyota partnered with BMW, so this car actually shares a lot of parts with the upcoming BMW Z4. For that reason, we estimate that it will probably be powered by a turbo charged inline 6.

So as much nostalgic love as there is around the Supra, the car was originally killed off because of slow sales. But Toyota's hoping that enthusiasm carries over to this new one and sales will be strong as soon as this hits the market. We don't know when the car will actually hit the market, and this is just a concept. But look for a production version sometime later this year and a full on sale date of 2019.
