2009 New York Auto Show: P.U.M.A
A solution to the world's urban transportation problems could lie in two wheels not four, according to executives for General Motors Corp. and Segway Inc. The companies announced Tuesday that they are working together to develop a two-wheeled, two-seat electric vehicle designed to be a fast, safe, inexpensive and clean alternative to traditional cars and trucks for cities across the world.

New York Auto Show: Jeep Grand Cherokee
Not wanting to risk offending brand acolytes with their new 2011 model, Jeep faced a pair of seemingly divergent goals: Improve off-road ability while making the vehicle more attractive to a wider, street-oriented mainstream audience. In other words, as Chrysler's vice-president of design Ralph Gilles put it to us, Jeep's mission was to "put the 'Grand' back in Grand Cherokee."

New York Auto Show: Kia Forte Koup
Following the introduction of its all-new Forte compact sedan at the Chicago Auto Show in February, Kia unveiled the 2-door variant here at the New York Auto Show. The car takes not only the name, but also plenty of styling cues from the KOUP Concept that make it distinctively different from its sedan brother.

New York Auto Show: Acura ZDX
After a few weeks of teasing, Acura has finally revealed the ZDX, its new four-door, luxury crossover "coupe" that is clearly aimed at the similarly proportioned BMW X6. The ZDX wears the now familiar shield grille and sharp styling that has spread across the entire Acura lineup.

New York Auto Show: Subaru Legacy Outback
It only makes sense that Subaru chose to unveil its new Outback here, as the very first model debuted here in the Big Apple some 15 years ago. Predictably, the all-wheel drive Outback's running gear remains pure Legacy, and as such, it has grown similarly.

New York Auto Show: Scion iQ
To no one's surprise, Toyota unveiled the Scion iQ concept at the New York Auto Show. Ever since the iQ debuted in Europe last year, the expectation has been that Toyota would sell the micro compact car as a Scion here in the U.S. to compete against the Smart ForTwo. What surprised us were the modifications made to the iQ for its debut in the States.

New York Auto Show: GMC Terrain
The tagline for GMC's 2010 Terrain is "The CUV hs bn cndnsd," which they intend to mean it's all about smaller size yet bigger capability. The direct-injection 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine returns 30 mpg, the MultiFlex sliding rear seats provide huge storage space or best-in-class leg room, and among the many storage spaces, the center console can swallow a laptop.

New York Auto Show: Mercedes-Benz E250 Bluetec
Mercedes-Benz brought the new E250 BlueTEC concept sedan to the New York Auto Show today, showing the type of clean diesel sedan that could follow in the wake of last year's BlueTEC SUV mini-fleet. The E250 BlueTEC boasts a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) exhaust technology mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.

New York Auto Show: Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG
AMG is slowly raising the level of every car in the specialty line, and now the E63 AMG takes its place among the truly sporty offerings from Affalterbach. The specs fit the mold of bigger better more, with 518 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, matching the S Class number for number.

New York Auto Show: Hyundai Nuvis
The first hint of what we can expect from the next generation Tucson and Santa Fe crossovers was revealed today at the New York Auto Show as the Hyundai Nuvis concept. The sweeping creases echo and expand upon Hyunadi's design direction that could be seen on the Genesis coupe and sedan and the Korean market Equus that stood on display nearby.
