2020 BMW i8 Base 2dr All-Wheel Drive Coupe

Overview

The BMW i8 is a new direction for both the German manufacturer and the industry, a plug-in hybrid sports car with a carbon fiber reinforced plastic passenger compartment that revolutionizes manufacturing. For the 2019 model year we see the introduction of the i8 roadster which removes the rear seats and adds a convertible roof. The i8 is motivated by a 228-hp turbo three-cylinder engine that powers the rear wheels and a 141-hp electric motor and 11.6 kW lithium-ion battery pack that power the front wheels, giving the i8 all-wheel drive capability. The battery can be charged in 2 hours with a 220 volt charger. There are two trim levels Tera and Tera Copper; and they are meant to make interior color and option selection easier. Standard safety features include LED headlights and daytime running lights, eight airbags in the coupe and six airbags in the roadster, an alarm system, BMW Assist eCall with Emergency Request and stolen vehicle tracking, surround view cameras, frontal collision prevention and speed limit alert info. Other standard features include a harman/kardon premium sound system, heated front seats, 20-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio and Bluetooth phone and audio streaming. The i8 is a carry-over for 2020.
