Overview

The Atlas is Volkswagen's bold entry into the competitive three row SUV market, delivering aggressive styling and plenty of space for passengers and cargo. The Atlas is powered by either a 235-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, or a 276-hp 3.6-liter V-6, with both engines sending power to the wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. There are 5 trims to choose from, S, SE, SEL and SEL R-Line, which can be had in either front-wheel drive or 4MOTION all-wheel drive and the SEL Premium which is 4MOTION exclusive. Standard features include heated exterior mirrors, 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, 6.5-inch touchscreen display, 6-speaker audio system, smartphone integration and dual-zone climate control. Features available throughout the lineup include power panoramic sunroof, 10-way power driver seat with lumbar support, manual rear sunshades, 21-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, hands-free rear liftgate, 8-inch touchscreen display, overhead view camera, adaptive cruise control and Fender premium audio system with 12 speakers and subwoofer. Available safety equipment includes forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot monitor with rear traffic alert and high beam assist. For 2019, the Launch Edition has been replaced by the new SEL R-Line trims and forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian detection and blind spot monitor with rear traffic alert are now standard equipment on all Atlas models.
