JOEL STOCKSDALE: Hi, guys. I'm Joel Stocksdale for Autoblog. We are in a brand new Honda Civic Type-R. And we're just going to talk to you a little bit about the interior.

One of the big attractive parts of the Honda Civic Type-R are these bright red racing seats. They're exclusive to the Type-R. And one of the neat things about them is that even though they're really heavily bolstered, they really hold you in when you're driving. They're actually surprisingly comfortable. They can be a little bit on the snug side for somebody a little bit bigger, but they're soft enough that it doesn't feel like it's squeezing you.

Some other things to talk about. It's got loads of red accents from the seat belt to the steering wheel and all along the dashboard. So if you really like red, this is the place to be. It's got a great shifter. This thing is easily the best shifter that Honda offers right now. It's better than the SI, which is already fairly solid.

And down here by the shifter, you can also see that we've got our switch for Comfort and Normal and Plus R modes. Changing between these changes the suspension settings and the steering. In Comfort, it's the softest suspension and the steering is at its lightest. And obviously, R is at the other end of the spectrum. It's hard, it's got heavy steering.

Another thing to mention is that this car comes with automatic rev matching for a nice rev-matched downshift. And one thing to note about it is that it's kind of-- to be able to turn it off if you want to do the rev matching yourself-- which is fairly easy because the pedals are closely spaced and the engine loses revs really quickly, so it's very easy to get those revs matched. If you want to do it yourself, you have to turn off the rev matching. And that's a multi-step process.

So you have to go here to the touch screen, press Settings, go to Vehicle, go to Driver Assist Systems Setup, go to Rev Match System, and then you either switch it on or off. I have it off at the moment. What's kind of annoying is that you can only access this when the car is completely stopped. So if you're out driving and, for whatever reason, you want to switch either way, you have to come to a complete stop, make sure you're not moving or anything. But overall, it's a nice place to be. It's got some neat performance options.
