Most of us love Ferraris, but let's face it – until about the past decade, the machines from Maranello weren't exactly renowned for great long-term reliability. Buying an older Ferrari (or Lamborghini, Maserati or just about any other Italian exotic for that matter) has always been something of a roll of the dice. Ferrari is now attempting to come to the rescue with a new Roadside Assistance service.
Starting in Italy and then spreading through the rest of Europe, the program will be free for at least 12 months on any Ferrari built since 1947 that isn't covered by a current warranty. Besides the usual towing services, this plan will cover any expenses required to get home or to a hotel and get your car to an authorized service facility.
So far there is no word on whether the program will be expanded to the U.S. market or how much it will cost after that first 12 months is up.

Ferrari announces new, free Roadside Assistance service for all cars not covered by warranty
Maranello, 20th July 2009 - Ferrari is pleased to announce the launch of the new "With You" roadside assistance service to be provided free of charge to owners of all Prancing Horse cars built since 1947 and not covered by either existing factory or POWER warranties.
Under the new scheme, Ferrari clients will not only enjoy 12 months of roadside assistance if their vehicle breaks down, but also be offered cover for expenses involved in returning home or reaching the Ferrari Authorised Service Centre to which their car has been taken. Furthermore, the new "With You" service will also cover any hotel expenses incurred by the client before returning home or continuing with their journey.
The new service is free of charge and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It can be activated immediately for Italian clients but will also be extended to other European markets in the near future, starting with Great Britain. To activate cover in Italy, owners need only contact the Ferrari Client Service number - 800080202.
This latest initiative joins the growing range of services offered by the Prancing Horse to clients wishing to enjoy their Ferrari in complete confidence and peace of mind. Along with the three-year manufacturer's warranty provided with each new car, all Authorised Ferrari Dealerships and Service Centres offer extended warranty cover for cars up to 10 years from the date of their first registration through the POWER programme. In addition there is also the Ferrari Approved programme which provides warranty cover for all used Ferraris, again up to 10 years of age.
