Mexico's auto output jumps

Mexico's June auto production was up 51.8 percent over June of 2005 and exports were up 64.9 percent, indicative of the industry's rebound worldwide. Auto industry experts expect that Mexico will hit a record 2 million vehicle exports this year -- a positive development for the Mexican economy, which heavily depends on the automotive industry.

Despite the hype about China, Mexico has been quietly gaining the attention of car companies producing vehicles in North America thanks to the logistical pipeline already in place, whereas logistical issues have largely caused automakers to avoid building their vehicles in China for export so far.
