One of Toyota's own efforts that will be on display at SEMA is this X-Runner Concept developed by Toyota Racing Development (TRD). The new 2006 Tacoma X-Runner is already considered be a very capable sport truck, but TRD decided an Eaton Roots-type supercharger and air-to-liquid intercooler would make it even better. The package produces a stout 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft. of torque. TRD even had to modify the engine's internals with new pistons, connecting rods and camshafts to handle all that extra oomph. The X-Runner Concept wouldn't be a proper SEMA show vehicle if TRD didn't throw in HRE 20-inch three-piece wheels tucked underneath a lowered body.
