Crashes in racing are expected to happen at high speed with two drivers challenging each other to be the first one into a corner. They are not, however, supposed to happen like this. The poor Seat Leon Cupra racecar here goes out in the most humiliating way possible – a combination of gravity and human error.

In the video, the car is attached to a crane and is being hauled up a building. However, they apparently didn't tie the racer down (or at least, didn't tie it down enough), because what happens next is heart-wrenching. The shocked silence that briefly follows says it all. Scroll down to watch a very expensive case of human error in action.

It looks like the height drop of the CG was around 5 meters. Mathematically, that means that on impact, it was going 9.9 m/s, or 22mph. There's definitely some major damage there, but it will likely live to race another day. BTW, the internet should have taught everyone by now, whenever you see somebody recording video, stop and rethink what you are doing.

"Did you ratchet the car down, Jenkins?" "Nah, Wilson did it." "Wilson, did you ratchet the car down?" "Nah, Jenkins did it." *CRUNCH* "I'm surrounded by idiots."

Doesn't look like they tied it down with anything or even set the parking brake...

I don't think race cars have a parking brake. Maybe I'm mistaken though.
