Lamborghini Sesto Elemento - Click above for high-res image gallery

Lamborghini's Sesto Elemento, the carbon fiber beauty that debuted at the Paris Motor Show just two short months ago, has reportedly been given the green light by its Italian automaker. The two-seat "Sixth Element" exotic is much more than radical jet-fighter styling and a fixation with all things lightweight. Hidden under its flat-black composite panels is the same V10 engine shoehorned into the Lamborghini LP 570-4 Superleggera. With a power rating of 570 horsepower and a curb weight of just 2,200 pounds, the 5.2-liter engine is reportedly able to launch the all-wheel-drive Sesto Elemento to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. Keep the pedal down, and the Lamborghini should top 215 mph. With a price tag of about €2.5 million ($3.4 million at today's exchange), and a production run limited to less than ten units, best of luck securing one for your garage.

      2200lbs?

Holy hell. You figure the next generation Miata is aiming for that, and it won't even put down 1/3rd of that power (the current NC is ~165HP with the 2.0L MZR). Not only will this be ridiculously nimble, but at nearly 520HP/ton, a rocketship. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is only 481HP/ton.

What blows my mind about the weight, is that it's to be achieved with an AWD drivetrain. That's a lot of weight by itself. This thing is mind boggling.

Seriously... I thought everyone was just dissapointed that it wasn't the replacement for the Murci... Or in my case, after I saw it, relieved...

man, just accept .... we're going to the 22nd century, this will be normal in a few and probably even for normals folks.

i think this design is great, accept a litle to long lip.

hell, it's easy to clean aswel and no problem if you out dirty shoes in it.

thank ... you can't really chrome carbon fiber.

p.s. only 5 will be made, so the price is justified ... i read the news a few days earlier

It really is more a work of art than a performance car. I just wish the nose was a little less droopy. The attention to detail and the carbon layup are astounding though.

I say we get 365 people together and do a group buy for this thing and then we can all get to drive it for a day. Then in a few years we can sell it and double our investment. So, $3.4 million/365 is only 9,315. So, let's make it an even $10,000 to cover taxes. I'll head to my local Lamborghini dealer (only about 50 miles from here) to secure the deal... Oh, to be a wealthy oil sheik. Calm down some of the over-the-top creases and ground effect bits and this would be really gorgeous. And sinister.

I wonder what Underground Racing could do with it. A few kgs more and twice the power and this thing might be able to outdrink a hummingbird.

That is truly ugly. It even makes a zonda look good.
      3.4 million?!! Ya, I think I'll take a McLaren F1 instead.

Agreed, just not doing it for me. Seems ill resolved just to be showy. The Reventon is a much nicer looking thing. Impressive tech though.
