VIDEO: Skyline R32-amino, wait... wha?

Click above to view video after the jump
The Nissan Skyline R32 is a legend on the track and in the eyes of tuners around the world. There are legions of fans who have tweaked their R32s to go faster and move with more agility, but we don't think many have turned their precious Skylines into a Ute to obtain optimal drifts. Following the jump is video of a race-ready R32 that looks more Ford Falcon from Down Under than it does a super-tuned Nissan from the land of the rising sun. It may look beaten with an ugly stick, but it could be the only R32 that can hot lap a track and help a friend move in the same day. And it's a hella-good drifter, too. The video after the jump is English free, so if you have any Japanese language skills, let us know what they're saying in the comments section.

Looks like a base model R32 Skyline(non GTR) with R31 a RB20 DE-T I6. Certainly an less common setup with lower power potential. I'm was suprised that a lower power motor like that would drift well, but I'm sure the lighter rear end helps.

I think it is just a Rb20det from the R32 GTS-t skyline, not the earlier r31 rb20. As far as power goes, there are guys out there drifting with far less power, and this does not look stock, so it could be pushing 300 hp or more.
Mwmorph 4:55PM (10/13/2008)
Well the red vavle covers are indicitive of a early R31 RB20 DET, not a R32, but you may be right, I'm no expert on RB engines or Nissans.

I see what you mean about the red valve cover, but in this case this one just looks painted. I also believe the valve/cam covers on the R31 RB20 have small ridges/fins and this one is smooth.
This car is cool in its own way (although a little ugly), kind of like the silvia "trucks."
Mwmorph 5:35PM (10/14/2008)
I think you are right about the paint. The ridges on the other hand, were on CA18DET Red tops not RB20. RB20 valve covers look like that while CA18 had the ridges.

Sorry man I am pretty sure I am right about the ridges, although the CA18 has the same look to it, the RB20 from the R31 do have the ridges.

This is a super old video and a common tune in australia and japan. the car is a gts-t with an rb20det, makes lots of power. sweet car!!

It's probably a Sil-Truck (a Silvia conversion) with an R32 front end on it. A few teams ran Sil-Trucks in D1 in Japan (Team Orange comes directly to mind).

Student:
The idea was to make a sport compact truck based on the skyline.
The frame, advised by our teacher, was mostly made by gut feeling.
We did a bit of strain test and added wherever it lacked.
In terms of the engine, a 33 turbine, (something... sorry ), cam sprocket and others.
The budget was around 1000bucks (10,000 yen) so we couldnt do too much.
driver:
I would rather be driving in somewhere warm like on the coast line of California...
hey, hot girl! than here in cold japan.
But I guess if I went to the states in a car like this, an american girl would be really suprised.
text comment:
Students, knowing the car inside out, are suprised at the fearless driving of (name of driver )
driver :
The car is basically a skyline, but it is a bit soft due to the lack of the rear.
But it doesnt matter with this type of car, its more about the feel.
