Overview

The Ford Explorer has long been one of the best-selling SUVs in the market. A capable tow vehicle and off-roader, it also offers the generous interior space, comfort features and safety technologies necessary for day-to-day tasks. The Explorer comes in five trim levels, the Base, XLT and Limited are available as FWD and AWD while the Sport and Platinum are only available as all-wheel drive. The Explorer is powered by one of five engines, a 285-hp 3.3-liter V6, a 300-hp 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, a 318-hp 3.3-liter V6, a 365-hp 3.0-liter V6 or a 400-hp 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 all of the engines are mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission. Trim-dependent standard equipment includes: 18- or 20-inch aluminum wheels, dual panel moonroof, hands-free power liftgate, LED fog, daytime running and headlamps, automatic high-beams, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated/ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, Intelligent Access with push-button start and front/rear cameras with washers, along with satellite/HD radio, voice-activated navigation and Ford?s SYNC communications and entertainment system. Standard safety features consist of AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control and Curve Control function, traction control and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, as well as Ford?s MyKey owner control feature, eight airbags, front and rear parking sensors, traffic sign recognition and the Ford Co-Pilot360 with blind spot information, Lane-Keeping Assist, rear cross-traffic alert and pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection. The Explorer gets added customization around seating for 2020, the Base model still comes standard with seating for seven passengers while all the other trims are now equipped with second-row buckets seats that can be upgraded to leather heated and ventilated captain's chairs, other seating options include a 2nd row 35/30/35 bench with E-Z Entry and Armrest which will bring the seating back up to seven passengers.
