More details have emerged about the new coupe Lotus is developing to slot between the two-seat Elise and Exige models and the new Esprit expected to appear in 2007. For one thing, the new coupe will be a 2+2, according to Edmunds, and be priced around $70,000. The mid-engine car will be wider and longer than an Elise and have a composite body and aluminum chassis. The engine will probably come from Toyota again, so expect a 3.0L or 3.5L Toyota V6. The car will revive the name Elite or Excel and 5,000 copies are earmarked for the U.S. We'll get to see what this car looks like finally at the next Geneva Auto Show.
