Before it was part of General Motors, Cadillac was salvaged out of Henry Ford’s second car company in 1902. It even took over Ford’s old factory in Detroit. GM acquired the brand in 1909. A powerful V8 and later V16 engine and luxurious coachbuilt bodies defined the brand before World War II. Afterward, Cadillac pioneered styling and technological trends and became the ultimate symbol of America’s postwar economic prowess. Much more recently, Cadillac has revived its lineup with a sharp-edged design language known as “Art and Science.” The range currently spans from the small ATS to the Escalade, as well as the high-performance V range.
