Beautiful car, but it looks similar to what you see driving around everywhere as it is. It seems to achieve more of a look of a pimped out boy racer's car. So the only things that are missing are the boom box, spinners and the blue under body lighting. Kitt would look better as a Bugatti Veyron.
After seeing the photos, I will not bother to even watch the pilot. This looks like a generic redneck car. If the car is not going to be original, creative, or exciting then the show is not going to be either.
I am responding to claire@'s coment about the new KITT not looking original. First off, look at the old KITT, does it not look like a factory Firebird, other than the light in the grille? This version of Kitt does not resemble any other Mustang on the road that I have seen. Sounds like "claire@" is just upset that the producers of the show have finally made a good choice by going with a Ford product. :}
Larry@, you must not get out much. It's a factory stock GT500KR with flat black racing stripes. What's "original" about that?? They're debuting it for the new Knight Rider(which is why you haven't seen it on the road YET). The pictures with the wing/body kit are "pursuit mode"...which, in the original series the "stock Firebird" also looked totally different. I love Fords just as much as GM's but I still think it's a stupid idea. And despite your 2 cents, (which is about what it's worth), Ford is no better a choice than any other car manufacturer. I've owned well over 24 cars both Ford and GM, both are great companies. You should probably do more research before speaking.
Bottom line is it'd be like making a Dukes of Hazzard remake with anything but a Dodge Charger. Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, Dodge, it doesn't matter...stupid is stupid. The car was the STAR of the show, changing that is like changing the main character, DUMB.
I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants! Mustang owners everywhere should be embarrased by this mess and I am not a Mustang fan by any stretch of the imagination. I guess Ford will get a boost in Mustang sales however. Smooth move, Ford! Vdubs forever!
this just makes me sad to see the real kitt had the powerful look and also looked like he was rewady to wop anyones ass but not to be mean to the stang but my 90 formula would wop its ass u need a car that has power in all repects not jusat the motor u must have a solid built car that can with stand it and the looks of kitt all fit the new dash will look to new it needs to look simple like kit but do it all this hits me had but u never know the ricers might like it lmao....
Hey Patrick@, don't give them any ideas. I agree "KITT" was the computer system in the car. The amazing part of the show was what the car could do. I have read all of the replies here, but have not heard anyone mention the thrill of what the car could do. To say you're not going to watch because of the car itself says you did not the show in the first place. Or grew tired of it. With modern technology, I curious to see what all the car can do.
I don't know why everyone is crying about the car. KITT was not the car, KITT was the "Brain" (computer system) put into the car. It seems to me that that "Brain" was put into a couple different vehicles over the the life of the series. You're just lucky they aren't trying to put it into an SUV.
I suppose this is the best you could devise, especially when you give a group of "Computer Geeks" an already Classicly - Styled Mustang car Body to work with! How could they NOT THEN Screw it all up to make it look this Goofy !!???
I would urge the "Knight Rider" show Prducers to switch the Car over to the NEW 2009 CAMARO....when it arrives!
(Paint it BLACK!....But...Just don't Velcro anything Goofy onto the already clean, crisp, and stylish classic body !)
Actually if you look at the car again, it's a Shelby Mustang not a GT500KR. It just has some GT500KR parts on it. I think everyone should just wait until the show airs to see what it has to offer. In the 80's the Trans Am was cool. The new show will air in the year 2008. I think it's a nice step up from the original. Besides they don't make Trans Am anymore, and the Camaro exist's only of a concept at the moment any how.
I like the new car. The visual effects of the paint changing is awesome and I love the car I was never really much of a mustang fan until now I want one of my own I don't care if it is stock or not. I can't wait to see more shows
