Overview

The 2027 Nissan Rogue compact SUV understands the family-SUV assignment: comfortable seats, generous storage, and a commute that feels pleasantly uneventful. Its cushioned ride makes highway journeys easy, although the steering delivers about as much excitement as a grocery receipt.

A 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder produces 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available. The five gasoline trims are S, SV, Dark Armor, Rock Creek, and Platinum, covering everything from sensible transportation to near-luxury comfort.

What’s New for 2027

The gasoline Rogue continues into 2027 essentially unchanged. The bigger development is a separately redesigned Rogue Hybrid (below) featuring Nissan’s e-Power system, new to the U.S. market. Its gasoline engine generates electricity while electric motors drive the wheels. This model follows the short-lived 2026 Rogue Plug-in Hybrid, which was based on the Mitsubishi Outlander, and it develops 225 hp. The gasoline Rogue reviewed here retains its familiar design and 201-hp powertrain.

Exterior

Nissan’s V-Motion grille, sculpted sides, and LED lighting lend the 2027 Rogue an upscale appearance without making a production of it. Its upright profile also preserves useful interior space.

Rock Creek introduces a distinctive grille, tubular roof rack, and 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. Hill-descent control helps on rougher tracks, but its standard 8.2-inch ground clearance tempers ambitions. Dark Armor trades the camping gear for gloss-black accents and 19-inch wheels, while Platinum adopts a more polished look.

Interior

Nissan’s Zero Gravity front seats remain the Rogue’s biggest selling point, particularly on long trips. Deep door pockets, a dashboard shelf, and under-console storage help contain family clutter. The adult-friendly back seat is easily accessed through wide-opening doors, and the available Divide-N-Hide system makes cargo organization less of a puzzle.

S gets cloth upholstery and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. SV adds premium cloth, dual-zone climate control, a power driver’s seat, and ProPILOT Assist. Dark Armor brings heated Prima-Tex seats, while Rock Creek features its own leatherette upholstery. Platinum offers quilted semi-aniline leather, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, wireless phone integration, and Bose audio. Unfortunately, the larger screen sometimes responds as though it’s considering its options.

Price Range and Best Value Trim

TrimMSRP
S FWD$29,690
S AWD$31,090
SV FWD$30,690
SV AWD$32,090
Dark Armor FWD$33,540
Dark Armor AWD$34,940
Rock Creek AWD$34,590
Platinum AWD$39,790

The 2027 Nissan Rogue’s price range spans quite a few trims, but the SV FWD is the sweet spot because its $1,000 premium over S brings genuinely useful equipment: ProPilot Assist with adaptive cruise control, dual-zone climate control, remote start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, 6-speaker audio (up from four speakers), heated body-color side mirrors, Nissan Connect services, Wi-Fi, and 18-inch wheels. It retains the same 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft available in pricier versions, making the additional features much easier to justify than another round of cosmetic upgrades.

Hybrid pricing ranges from $35,490 for the SV to $43.490 for the Platinum.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Comfortable seats and compliant ride
  • Practical cabin with flexible storage
  • Comprehensive standard safety equipment
  • Well-equipped, affordable SV trim

Cons:

  • Three-cylinder and CVT get noisy under load
  • Uninspiring handling
  • Sluggish optional touchscreen
  • Rock Creek offers limited off-road capability

Verdict

The 2027 Nissan Rogue excels at the things most compact SUV buyers actually use: commuting, hauling family gear, and covering highway miles comfortably. The SV delivers a particularly convincing mix of convenience and value, while Dark Armor and Platinum add richer appointments for those wanting more than the basics.

The 3-cylinder engine sounds strained when pushed, and the steering is unlikely to inspire a weekend canyon run. Rock Creek looks ready for adventure but remains happiest on mild trails. Still, there’s plenty to like in an SUV that makes daily life easier without demanding much attention.
