Not wanting to be left out of the emerging luxury car bonanza in China, Automotive News is reporting that Acura could begin producing vehicles in the Asian country by 2016. Like Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, Acura will reportedly build vehicles in China using a local partner – Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. in Acura's case – while Cadillac and Infiniti will build their own vehicles locally.

Guangzhou already produces Honda models in China, but the article says that the first Acura produced in that country could be a new compact model based on the Acura SUV-X Concept (shown above), a showcar revealed in April at the Shanghai Motor Show. China's luxury car market is expected to grow to 2.7 million units a year by the end of this decade, which would put it on pace to make it the largest premium car market in the world.

I'll take a classic Legend design over this any day of the week. China production or not.

WOW, I respect other peoples opinion like Bouchard, but I'm going to have to say this is probably one of the best designs I've ever seen come out of the Acura division. Simply impressive. If this is the new design language, I'm really happy for the brand....redemption. Thank you, now I can leave Lexus.

No thanks. Acura design looks more and more Chinese as time passes.

Please fire the American Acura design team. This is what the RDX should have looked like. Overdrawn a little perhaps, but definitely not garish nor boring.

I'll agree the Acura design team needs to go... now. But I this this concept is way, way overstyled (quite randomly, too) and looks ridiculous IMHO. If this is the future of Acura, I'm still not buying.

I've never really had a opinion about Acura but seen my first ZDX today in a parking lot it was black and one of the most striking Acura's I've seen. If it gets my curiosity going job well done. Certainly better looking than the CrossTour that is shares a platform with. If that's one Acura I like right now it has to be the ZDX some may not like it but I certainly do because it's different and stands out I don't even mind the "beak" it actually works on the ZDX.
