2012 Acura TL teaser – Click above for high-res image

Acura is set to debut the revamped 2012 TL sedan at the Chicago Auto Show this week, and the automaker has just released this teaser image, showing the car's slightly refreshed rump. It doesn't appear that the rear design has changed too much versus the current TL; this refresh is more than likely similar to the updo that the smaller TSX received for the 2011 model year.

What we're most curious about, however, is the 2012 TL's front fascia. Acura's new corporate face wasn't too well-received by members of the media when it debuted on the 2009 TL, and we're curious to see if the angular lines have been smoothed out for the new model year.

Additionally, we'd expect that the sedan's powertrain options – currently a pair of 3.5- and 3.7-liter V6s – have been refined ever so slightly. We'll have the full details during this week's Chicago Auto Show festivities, so stay tuned.

How gracious of them to offer up such a telling teaser shot. That looks like it could be the rear end of the current model, though the tailpipes do look a bit different. Honda needs to fix this "ugly stick" styling mantra in a hurry. The TL went from being one of the most attractive offerings on the market to... this.

remove the exhaust tips from that pic and it's hard to tell if it's the front or back of the car haha.
      Aaaaand it's the same...
Why would you bother teasing it when you can see pretty much the same thing here:

Sure it's a refresh but to tease this? Jeez
        • 4 Years Ago
because that is the 2011 model, not the new 2012 refreshed model.
That's my point. The pic linked is the 2011. The teaser pic is the 2012. They're nearly the same.

Wonder how much they have improved the looks.

1958 Edsel ..... 2009 Acura. Any questions? This cars mechanicals are impeccable its "Can Opener' buck tooth face and ass are not. keep the mechanicals, redesign the exterior.

that awkward rear still looks the same, Honda and Acura needs some new talent in the form of stylists

So is this return of Optimus Prime part Deux? TL is hideous.
with that rear end styling still remaining, i highly doubt the front end will change much as far as the design lines go. :(

        Unfortunately, I agree with you.

That chrome ass-beak has to go.

Acura: When releasing teaser images, don't show off one of the ugliest parts of the car. But I guess it could have been worst, at least they didn't show off the front of the car!

Really Acura? Two V6's - 3.5 or a 3.7 litre option? Don't go too crazy there! If I were in the market, I'd rather look at the Genesis. Better design IMO, RWD and two real choices of engines. Soon to have AWD so that another nail in the coffin.
What in the hell are you talking about? Two REAL engine choices???

These competitors do the exact same thing, small V6 option and a larger option.

        G25/37 - Both V6
        328/335 - Both I6
        C300/350 - Both V6
        IS250/350 - Both V6

All of the above offer AWD, and just an FYI, not everyone WANTS RWD. Two REAL engine choices??? Acura's 3.7 puts out more HP than Hyundai's and it ALREADY offers AWD. The TL doesn't offer a V8 but the SH-AWD with a six speed manual runs 0-60 in pretty much the same time and handles FAR better than the Genesis.

        Do some research please.
