Although we couldn't find news of this on either Kia's US or UK media sites, we wanted all of you to see it for yourselves. The Car Blogger is sourcing Kia for the sketch you see above, allegedly showing the company's Spectra replacement, rumored to be called the Forte when it's unveiled in August. Showing off what's rumored to be "Kia's new family look," it apes the styling cues shown on some of Kia's recent concepts, including the Koup and Kee. It also appears to take a few cues from the Honda/Acura playbook. Not that there's anything wrong with that. We see everything from the TSX to the Civic to the Accord in there, but those are pretty good cars to emulate if you are going to copy any. We'll keep you posted when Kia provides some official details.

I think the fact that about 20 people have accused it of looking like completely different cars is proof that this has enough unique styling to it. I think it looks pretty nice, and I think the Korean automakers have finally caught on to what design is appealing to American buyers.

If it comes anywhere close to looking like this sketch, Kia might finally have created a major contender in the compact class. It looks to finally make good on all the claims that Kia will be positioned to be the sportier brand in the Hyundai/Kia duo. I would love to see sedan, coupe, and 5-door versions make it to production. Hopefully, Kia will finally ditch the 4 speed transmission with the introduction of this car. The current generation Optima offered a 4 cylinder/5 speed auto combo before the current generation Sonata (which finally gets this combo for the 2009 model year).

Overall, it looks as though the Spectra replacement will target the Civic while the Elantra will target the Corolla.

Oh great, all the automakers are taking styling lessons from the Civic now.

(what's assumed to be the next-gen Cobalt, and now this?)

Maybe, but I'm tired of seeing clones.

Actually i think it looks like a TSX with A4 tail :P

        anyone with me?
        At least it'll look nice.

And you didn't think the Koup ressembled the Civic?

When a Civic and G6 go to Korea funny things happen, like this Kia lovechild between the two.
The G6 was the first car that came to my mind as well...

TriShield is a known anti-Korean racist who trolls on every single Hyundai/Kia topic.

I'm surprised a respectable company like AOL condones such activity.

It doesn't look like a honda or acura anything. Its a suzuki SX4 and nissan sentra ripoff. It actually looks promising. People knock kias, but I rented one and its a solid little ride, it doesn't hurt there cheap either. They just look like crap. Maybe this will change that!

Looks to me like a mixture of an Acura nose, Pontiac G6 sides, and Audi rear. I will say, though, that it all looks to come together well....just isn't very memorable.

technically the tsx is an accord, if your not american. but thats just me being a pedant.

i'm not sure if theres an equivalent to the spectra in europe, but we do get some nice small kia's and their suv's arent too bad either. i like the new sportage.
The Spectra used to be sold in Europe, badged as the Cerato, which has now been replaced of course by the Ce'ed. In Europe it was a Focus/Astra competitor, and was sold as a hatchback as well as a sedan. The Sonata is marketed as a Mondeo competitor. I am wondering whether the Spectra is marketed as a midsize Stateside?

The design of the new car looks rather good, but I would very much doubt this car would be sold in Europe, as there isn't an obvious gap in the Kia range for it to fit into. Having said that, mainland Europe likes saloon cars, and there is no Ce'ed saloon, so maybe there could be a place in some European markets for it, but sadly not in the UK.

I agree that it is reminiscent of the Koup concept, which I personally think is a good thing. Will be interesting to see it when there is more of it to see.

I hope this can achieve Civic like fuel economy. Looks like a nice design.
So the current Spectra is based off of the old Elantra platform. Is the new one gonna be its own new platform? Perhaps based on the cee'd? Pretty exciting...
Just so long as they don't also copy the Civic's interior they should be OK.
