GM is back in the news with two new recall campaigns. The one that will get the most news pertains to the G6. People
will love to slam GM because they are recalling the new sedan already – until you understand what the recall is for.
35,000 G6s get an offical recall notice “because the owner’s manual doesn’t say there is a child restraint anchor in
the middle of the back seat.” That’s just silly. I’m sure a few years ago GM would have sent the addendum to the
owner’s manual in the mail, but now it’s front page news. Anyone looking to install a child seat would have found the
anchor (the thing in the middle of the package tray) without the user manual’s help. Does anyone really read the manual
anyway? People need to chill out.
Where do you draw a line on calling it a recall?
