Speedy Toyotas are no longer in short supply
Toyota isn’t the first automaker that springs to mind when one thinks of sports car-rivaling acceleration. But Akio Toyoda, Chairman of Toyota, has been on a mission to banish Toyota’s reputation for making boring cars. Today, that’s reflected in a range of sporty, surprisingly potent models. From dedicated sports cars to electric crossovers, these are the five quickest new Toyotas you can buy in 2026. They’ve been ranked from slowest to quickest based on their 0-60 sprint times. Where two models share the same sprint times, the more powerful model has been ranked higher.
5. Toyota GR Corolla: 4.9 Seconds
One of only two gas-powered models on this list, the Toyota GR Corolla is a candidate for the most engaging car the brand currently produces. The fizzy 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine makes 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, with power going to all four wheels. Whether equipped with the six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic, the GR Corolla will reach 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds. It grips hard, sounds raucous, and looks properly aggressive.
4. Toyota bZ: 4.9 Seconds

Toyota
The Toyota bZ could not be more different from the GR Corolla, but in all-wheel-drive guise, shares the hot hatchback’s 4.9-second 0-60 run. This electric crossover makes 338 hp in AWD form, making it a lot quicker than the standard models with front-wheel drive. It’s hardly the most exciting car to drive on this list, but for under $40,000, it offers plenty of performance and practicality for the price. The original bZ4X wasn’t the EV hit some Toyota fans were expecting, but the enhanced bZ addresses many of that earlier EV’s flaws.
3. Toyota C-HR: 4.9 Seconds

Toyota
This is the third Toyota to have a 4.9-second 0-60 sprint time, but we’ve placed it above the bZ because the C-HR is smaller and lighter. AWD is standard on the revived C-HR and it produces 338 hp from dual motors, just like the bZ. It’s one of Toyota’s most evocatively styled crossovers, and the automaker promises a low center of gravity thanks to the positioning of the battery. In our drive of the C-HR, we found the steering to be communicative and acceleration to be impressive. Understeer and body roll eventually reveal themselves, but only at limits higher than most will expect of an EV in this segment.
2. Toyota bZ Woodland: 4.4 Seconds

Toyota
One of Toyota’s most powerful SUVs, the bZ Woodland is the bZ’s bigger and more practical sibling. All models have AWD and dual motors producing 375 hp, making it even more powerful than the larger, three-row Highlander. The 0-60 mph sprint is done and dusted in a mere 4.4 seconds, which is properly pacy. We found the acceleration to be immediate but pleasingly drama-free; it simply goes smoothly and quickly, and doesn’t break traction easily. Despite the performance, it still has a useful 8.4 inches of ground clearance and the X-Mode system for confident dirt-road jaunts.
1. Toyota GR Supra: 3.9 Seconds
Although increasingly threatened by Toyota EVs, the GR Supra remains Toyota’s speediest new car in 2026. It gets the job done with old-school gas, its 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine producing 382 hp and 368 lb-ft. With the six-speed manual gearbox, the 0-60 time is 4.2 seconds. If you go for the eight-speed automatic, the benchmark sprint time is just 3.9 seconds, and the BMW-sourced six-pot makes a lovely noise as the revs rise. The current GR Supra will go out of production soon, which means Toyota’s quickest cars will all be electric crossovers. Until then, this is the quickest and most thrilling Toyota you can buy.
Worth A Mention: 2027 Toyota Highlander and 2026 RAV4 PHEV

Cole Attisha

Hovering just outside the top 5 are another two speedy Toyota crossovers.
It’s only going on sale late in 2026, but the 2027 Toyota Highlander EV is expected to be one of the brand’s quicker models, too. Its dual motors produce 338 hp, but Toyota has made no claims about how quick it is. However, given that the smaller bZ has the same output and a 4.9-second sprint time, we expect the larger Highlander will hit the 60-mph mark in approximately 5.5 seconds.
The Toyota RAV4 plug-in hybrid is also quick, with prototypes of this vehicle reaching 60 in 5.4 seconds, thanks to 324 hp combined. It’s one of the most powerful vehicles in its segment outside of EVs, and we also appreciate the sportier steering tune of this RAV4 in GR Sport guise.
