Kia considers US plant

Kia is considering the construction of an assembly plant in the southeastern United States. According to the company, a domestic plant makes sense for reaching approximately 400,000 annual sales, a number that the company may reach in a few years (they plan on selling just under 300,000 vehicles in the US in ’05). There’s no mention yet of what vehicle would be built at this location, but a minivan or SUV offering would make the most sense. Don’t expect a lot of movement on this until parent company Hyundai gets its new Alabama plant running properly.
