automaker Geely is checking out Detroit for its future North American home. The automaker currently runs its North
American business out of Salt Lake City, Utah, hometown of former California lieutenant governor and Geely
champion in the U.S., John Harmer. Harmer says the reasoning behind the move is because Salt Lake City isn’t exactly an
automotive hotspot, and as such, SoCal and Memphis are also in the running for the automaker’s new U.S. home. Detroit
seems to be his first pick, however, so GM, Chrysler and Ford may be getting a neighbor from the East.
