Ford Edge CUV to debut in January

Ford Motor released this design rendering of the 2007 Ford Edge today in the run-up to the 2006 North American International Auto Show in January. The resemblance to the Ford Fusion is striking, and far from accidental. According to Peter Horbury, Ford’s executive director of North America Design (at right), “Much like Fusion has done for the mid-size sedan, the new Ford Edge will inject a healthy dose of American design and personality into the hot crossover market.” Looks like we can expect to see a lot of “Fusion design” in Ford’s new models. As we reported earlier (here and here), the Edge will be powered by Ford’s 3.5-liter V6, through the new 6-speed automatic transmission. The Edge goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2006 [Source: Ford]
