2017 Nissan Titan and XD get longest truck warranty in US

The Titan and Titan XD get pumped-up bumper-to-bumper warranty to match powertrain coverage.

Nissan TITAN is built on a separate chassis from TITAN XD, approximately 228.1 inches long (11.8 inches less than XD) and 79.5 inches wide (same as XD), with the cab size shared between the two vehicles.

Most full-size trucks, like the Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado, carry a 3 year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. That’s a pretty standard bumper-to-bumper warranty period for vehicles in the US; most powertrain warranties are longer, usually 5 years and 60,000 miles.

Every so often, though, a manufacturer will introduce a longer warranty period on a new car to give it an advantage in the marketplace. That’s what Nissan is doing with the 2017 Titan and Titan XD pickups.

Nissan will give buyers an extended warranty, providing bumper-to-bumper coverage that matches the powertrain warranty period, which in and of itself is a little longer than the standard in the segment. Basically, the whole truck is covered for 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. It’s an aggressive move that shows some confidence in the new trucks, and a competitive advantage to entice buyers to switch to a new brand.

One of the last remaining pieces of the Titan pricing puzzle has also been announced. We already knew what both
the XD gas and
diesel crew cabs cost (at least in the 2016 model year), but we haven’t seen half-ton gas pricing yet. Here’s the breakdown, with all prices including destination:

  • S Crew Cab 4×2 $35,975
  • SV Crew Cab 4×2 $38,865
  • SL Crew Cab 4×2 $47,575
  • Platinum Reserve Crew Cab 4×2 $53,505
  • S Crew Cab 4×4 $39,005
  • SV Crew Cab 4×4 $41,895
  • PRO-4X Crew Cab 4×4 $46,215
  • SL Crew Cab 4×4 $50,655
  • Platinum Reserve Crew Cab 4×4 $56,595

We still don’t have single-cab pricing for either the Titan or Titan XD models, but expect those to roll out in the next few weeks. And we also haven’t seen the King Cab style, which should be unveiled soon. Pricing, as you can probably guess, will follow the unveiling after an appropriate amount of time. Stay tuned for more details as Nissan makes them available.
