Head-turning looks for less

The fierce battle in the world of compact sedans continues, and we’re glad to see that Hyundai continues to not just make, but also improve the gas-only Elantra. With a facelift last year, the Elantra pits itself against the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic. Those sell in huge numbers, but the Elantra’s strengths are its edgy style and its tremendous value set, with improvements to the interior and exterior.

The 2025 Hyundai Elantra is available in five trim levels, with the base SE starting $22,125 and the top-end N Line starting at $28,975. Lower-trimmed Elantras are powered by a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to an Intelligent Variable Transmission, giving it excellent efficiency for a non-hybrid sedan. EPA estimates are 32 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 36 mpg combined. The Elantra is affordable and sensible, and the model is now getting a great September lease deal to sweeten the pot.
