Top Ten Things Autoblog is Thankful For

The industry that we know and love is facing hard times right now. Guess what? We're not going to talk about it. No, instead of spending time dwelling on the negative, which we can't really do anything about at the moment anyway, we're training our sights on the positives. There's plenty to be happy about in autodom, whether you are a fan of classic Detroit iron, forcefully-aspirated four-bangers and just about anything in between. Besides the mechanical bits that we constantly obsess over, there's also the joy of driving, though that may be the last thing on your mind in your tryptofan-induced coma. To commemorate our love of all things automotive, we've decided that a Top Ten list enumerating all the things for which Autoblog is thankful is in order. So, without further ado...

I simply meant that this blog entertains the postings of many people from many countries and many of those countries are great. So it is a valid question, to anyone: Which great country are YOU thankful to be living in?

@ Happy Penguin
I think the only reason people assumed unpatriotic sentiment was because in no other country is Thanksgiving on the 27th, this being the obvious tie-in to the top-ten story. That being said, I am Canadian, and am thankful to live in a country with so many choices on great automobiles, and like #10, I am pulling for the domestics (the big three are a big part of our economy too) to recover and start building cars the public wants to buy (#s 4, 3, 2 and 1)

I'm from Israel, and our best car is an audi R8(we got only 6), which cost 1.3 million Shekels, Which is 333,000 dollars!
In the US it cost 114K, In israel it cost nearly times 3 ...
We dont have even 1 ferrari or a bently...
Toyota Corolla 1.6L Cost 28K dollars in israel.
Our tax is 78%, plus all the importers are extremly expensive ...
Your all really living in a great country when it comes to cars, I'm not ...

Why does Autoblog hate the Viper?

Yeah, what's up with that?

Hmmm! The only thing I can think of is... is... is... I don't really know!
Here's an interesting story though! It's true too! Back when the Viper debuted there was a car in Peabody, MA called "Mongoose" which the guy designed as the "next generation Mustang". Well Ford didn't buy the car from him, he pitched it to Dodge and GM (I believe GM was in this too), anyway, a few years later the "Viper" debuted!
Here's the interesting part! You put the Viper and the Mongoose next to each other and the only obvious visual difference was that the Mongoose had holes on the inside area of each side mirror. It was that close!
I heard the guy sued but never heard of the results! I have the newpaper with the car on the front of it somewhere in a box. I thought it was interesting enough to save. Think I can find it? Noooo... Might have tossed it with my collection of MT, CD and RT Hmmm

Right on... return of the Pony Car. V8 muscle is one of the things that make this country great.

Well, If I were them, I might be thankful for a sizeable audience that enables this to be a job and not a hobby

Great list, a good combination of affordable (Pony cars, Euro Fords), nearly affordable (GT-R, ZR1), inspirational (Price no object hypercars), technological (DCT, Eco sports cars), economical, geographical, and FREE! (AB Podcast)
Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for my employees who've helped me put together a great project and I'm thankful for the folks at AB and ABG for consistent updates and news.
I'm also thankful for the guys that really love and appreciate their vehicles, which keeps me going as an enthusiast. Cheers for the automobile :).

Not sure about the Euro Fords and ECO cars as 2 and 1, but that's just the car guy in me...
I'm with Red on this one, and even though we had Thanksgiving a while back up here in Canada, I too tip my hat to Autoblog.. It puts a smile on my face at least once a day.

+1 When it's all said and done they put a smile on our faces and when they don't we do it for them with our comments:)
Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends in the USA. Better late than never (just kidding). Besides any time is a good time to give thanks for the good things in our lives. I hope this time next year all the things we are thankful for will still be here.

Just wanted to chime in and say thanks to AB for your great news coverage, and just damn entertaining articles. I'm a daily reader, and this is my number one source of automotive news and information. Not a day goes by that there isn't an article (or few) worth reading on this site.
Keep up the good work!

I'm bitter that I bought health and disability insurance and they refused to pay.
I'm bitter that my wife died because of it.
I'm bitter that the business went under and the house was foreclosed on.
I'm bitter they told my Digitek probably killed my wife.
But I'm thankful I lived in a great country. So great, I left.
