SEMA: Honda cleans up its CUV with CR-V Sport Concept

When the CR-V first debuted we thought it would honestly be the ugliest vehicle of the year. Surprisingly, it's growing on us (except that damn D-pillar!), and the CR-V Sport Concept is the best we've seen it look to date. Of course, it helps that Honda unloaded the entire contents of itsonda Access accessories catalogue on the CUV, adding new front and rear bumpers, attractive 19-inch wheels and a suspension package that lowers the vehicle. Still, it shows the CR-V has a bit of potential, though it won't be winning our beauty pageant this year.
Check out more angles of the CR-V Sport Concept after the jump and see if you agree.

im still not a fan of the smiley face grille that makes it look like the hood is free-floating.
the rest of it looks ok to me though.
(not enough to sway me from the forester sport XT, mind you)

I think this how the product version should've looked. It's shame Honda won't make it look this good. Honda keeps dickin' us wrong.

Boy Autoblog is really out there today, first they say Prius is a bad car and that any diesel is better. Ofcourse Autoblog did not say a word about deisels not being in USA to begin with and that not all gas stations offer it and that once the demand will go up the price will go thru the roof. Why? Because diesel production and distribution is not as fines honed as gas.
Now this, Autoblog thought CR-V is the uglies vehicle of the year. I hate to quote Jay Leno but here it comes SHUT UUUUP
LOL how can you call one of the most popular cars ugly, you know it will sell good just like any other Honda. Plus it acctualy looks very good. But ofcourse if it is not named Mazda it has to be ugly for Autoblog.

I'm sorry, but gluing a bunch of plastic pieces around the bottom of an economy car and calling it "ground effects" is about as gay as sticking a spoiler on a Camry.
I mean, who you foolin'?
And it's still got the butt-ugly nose job.

These CRVs are... unique looking... and even as a Honda fan I have a hard time coping with this.. but to their credit they look a LOT better in person. Same thing with the Pontiac Solstice.. way better in person.

#7 plastic pieces ????? This is CRV not a Saturn.
By the way as long as we are on the gay subject. Wasn't it FORD who was attacked as a carmaker that advertises in gay magazines, and wan't it Ford foundation that supported gay marriage as well as destruction of Israel.

No powertrain mods? Looks to me as if this thing is all show and no go. Not very fast anyway. The CR-V badly needs a V-6 or a turbo or something as the current engine is simply unable to cope with the heavy weight of these things.

That is one ugly ride, that must be the Rosanne Barr special edition Honda.

The 2007 CRV looks great in person.
It looks like a more expensive vehicle in the flesh.
Some things just dont photograph well.
But the proof is Honda has a HUGE hit on its hand with this redesign.
its up almost 100% in sales in October 2006 versus October 2005.
from aout 10,500 sales in Oct 2005 to over 20,000 sold in October 2006!
People can bash it all they want, but the numbers prove otherwise.
Honda is laughing all the way to the bank!

Have the Nipponese no self-respect. This vehicle looks surprisingly like the Dodge Caliber. If the Nippons are to take over the American car market, they will need to show more originality than this. Copycatting has gotten them well down the road but they will need more to kill off the Domestics.

It is only when Honda begins to have pretensions of "hotness" that they start to lose me as an admirer

McDonald's sells the most hamburgers, but it doesn't mean they are the best. The CR-V is the ugliest car of the year. It won't stop people from buying them, but man is that thing ugly.

I like the Cr-v. I rode in one the other day and it was so comfortable and nice. The acceleration was not that good but it was a nice SUV.
