Made for America

Among its peers, the Audi Q7 is noticeably larger, allowing it more room and standard third-row seats. It straddles the fine line between midsize and full-size, so it’s a bit of a category buster. Still, it wasn’t big enough for some customers, particularly American customers who apparently wanted an even larger crossover with four rings on the grille.

Audi has since responded with the Q9, and it has the North American market as its top priority. It even made its world debut in New York, further emphasizing its importance in the U.S. It’s a proper full-size crossover, as it’s 10 inches longer than the Q7, and less than an inch shorter than a Lincoln Navigator. The Audi Q9 also dwarfs its main rivals, the BMW X7, which is due for a redesign, and the recently updated Mercedes-Benz GLS.

The Need to Succeed

It’s no secret that Audi is currently facing its fair share of challenges, but the company believes its new car barrage should help turn the tide soon. The automaker is also putting a lot of faith in the Q9, and is determined to make it a success right out the gate.

With that, Audi is offering promos for its new flagship SUV as early as now. According to CarsDirect, there is a financing deal for the Q9 with 4.99% APR for 60 months, along with the option for 72-months at 5.99% APR. If that’s not enough, there’s even better news for those who currently own an Audi. There’s a loyalty discount worth $1,500 being offered nationally for the large SUV.

2027 Audi Q7 Highlights

The 2027 Audi Q7 is offered in three trims, with the Premium starting at $87,700, the Premium Plus for $93,300, and the Prestige breaching the $100,000 mark with a base price of $102,400. All come with a full suite of advanced driver assists, along with adaptive air suspension, Bang & Olufsen Premium sound system with 3D sound, and a head-up display.

Regardless of trim, all are powered by a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 with 429 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. It’s the same one used by the ‘smaller’ Q7 and is effectively the engine in the RS 5 sans the plug-in hybrid system. Of course, Quattro all-wheel drive is standard.

While it’s primarily aimed at the North American market, the Q9 will be sold in more markets around the world – Europe included. It’s crucial that Audi gets it right with this full-sized SUV, as it needs a good boost in sales in the U.S. It won’t be easy given the established players in the segment it competes in, but this could also be a chance for Audi to take some sales away from its compatriots.
