A
new exhibit at Dearborn’s Henry Ford Museum illustrates the Michigan institution’s commitment to try and
diversify its crowds and enrich its patrons. Opening on Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday, the exhibit is heavily
laden with important artifacts from different periods in American history, from the civil rights movement, to the
Revolutionary War.

Particularly notable is that almost 95-percent of the more than 250 artifacts on display have yet to be seen by the
public. According to writer Dave Hoekstra at the Chicago Sun-Times, the common thread of the exhibit is ‘freedom
of movement,’ an appropriate theme considering the museum’s namesake and chief benefactor’s vocation.
