A 1999 Hyundai Elantra was found not guilty of burning down a Louisiana hotel. The insurers said the fire was caused
by a high-resistance fault at the power plug-in connection to the back of the car’s radio. Hyundai examined the wiring
harness and found the fire had not originated in the dashboard, but at the driver’s side floorboard. The jury found no
defect in the Hyundai and it was exonerated of the crime. The ruling came too late, as the Elantra was “crushed and
exposed to the elements for more than a year” before the case was brought to court. Where’s the justice!
