Ford increases share in Chinese firm

Ford has increased its ownership of China’s Jiangling Motors. Ford Motor Company purchased .04 percent of the Chinese company’s shares to increase their ownership to 30 percent. The purchased shares were worth about $130,800 based on the August 5th closing value of Jiangling’s stock. This is clearly in preparation for Ford’s plan to increase investment in their Chinese venture. We suspect that Ford will continue to buy a larger share of Jiangling as time permits. Also in other Chinese-American venture news, Chrysler COO Tom LaSorda announced that Chrysler will be considering whether tobuild minivans in China for that domestic market. The decision is to be made within the next three months.
