It might sound odd but there are a few places in the San Francisco bay area where folks stand on a corner and wait
for a stranger in a car to drive them across the bay to work. It’s not a taxi company it’s casual carpooling where the
driver exchanges the privacy of his own car for a faster commute in a carpool lane, plus tolls. That has kept the
carpooling going for 30 years for the most part with no troubles, no crime and very little weirdness. The concept
sounds like a great one but it’s still hard to imagine getting into any car with a stranger after mom always told
us not too.
